Beautiful Garden of Eden
Do you think I’ll be OK?
Do you think you will accept me?
Or will you turn me away?
Not asking you to be humble
Not asking you to be kind
Not asking you to be subtle
I only hope that you’ll speak your mind
Well, each complaint will be taken in the order received
It’s not like you to be fakin’, so get up off your way
Far too many are claimin’ that they don’t have a clue
And, unless I’m mistaken, they’re all acting like you
So I just hope that you’ll change your mind
Hope you’ll find what you need inside and just let me sleep
Beautiful Garden of Eden
I am so guilty of sin
And I know that I’m just some talking monkey
But I’m begging you, please let me in
All I need is a break through
I don’t need you to tell me I’m right
But would it do me some good to, maybe
Stay up praying at night?
Well, each complaint will be taken in the order received
It’s not like you to be fakin’, so get up off your way
Far too many are claimin’ that they don’t have a clue
And, unless I’m mistaken, they’re all acting like you
So I just hope that you’ll change your tune
On this bright Sunday afternoon, won’t you let me sleep
Played by my own rules
Dropped out of high school
Now I live in my car, and it’s parked ‘neath the overpass
Can’t afford gas to fill up the tank
And you wanna deprive me my vision of paradise?
If you’re my father, turn wine to water
And bathe me, I’m begging you, I’m ready
Won’t you please let me in?
I just hope that you’ll change your mind
Hope you’ll find what you need inside
I just hope that you’ll change your tune
On this bright Sunday afternoon, and just let me sleep
