Simple Boy 2009 Harry L. Horton
Life just seemed so simple – when I was a little boy
Playing hide and seek – with all the girls and boys
We played through out the neighborhood – and all the neighbors understood
All we really wanted was to play
I wish I could close my eyes – to a younger day
Life just seemed so simple – when I was a younger kid
Never seemed to matter – much what we did
We rode our bikes to the corner store – played pinball for an hour or more
Never worried about the time of day
Wish I could close my eyes – to a younger day
Life’s just not as simple – now that I’m all grown up
Now its up to me – to keep my yard kept up
Well the cost of livings more and more – trying to keep up with the folks next door
There’s never any time for me to play
Now I wish I could close my eyes – wish I could close my eyes – to a younger day
And people took a stand – to set things right – living day by day
Now life’s just not as simple – as an older man
Now I have to walk – where I could have ran
Everyones in such a hurry – bills and taxes makes me worry
No one even gives the time of day
Well I wish I could close my eyes – now I wish I could close my eyes
Wish I could close my eyes to a younger day
Wish I could close my eyes – and go away
Now life’s just not as simple….
