When Alice came to the house in the country
With the pain of love, she would leave her way
She made a home in a gold shadowed valley
But her emptiness turned the gold to grey
She would stay there
Everyday there
She would be
Shed had a love long ago in the city
But the bird had flown in an ice blue sky
That other world crashing pieces around her
And she left with the love on a trip to die
There was she there
All alone there
Alice cried
And then all through the valley
Came the autumn wind, and then the snow
And all around the hills were shadowed black
And Alice walked along without her shoes or coat or scarf upon
Her heart was cold and warmth never came back
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
When once again summer came with a glimmer
And in hand with her soul, Alice walked alive
She stumbled over a fence in a meadow
She went down to the yard, and her soldiers walked away
There was she there
Lying up there
Alice would wait
And then all through the valley
Came the autumn wind, and then the snow
And all around the hills were shadowed black
And Alice walked along without her shoes or coat or scarf upon
Her heart was cold and warmth never came back
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
And so
With head as heavy as a millstone
And her eyes a raging glacier
She went down to find her love
But all in vain
And so…
